Meeting for the Walk

                                        

Two days before the walk we set up a meeting to give information to the girls that wanted to go. I don't think boys wanted to go because they're lazy...pfft. There was a group of Ten that came.

Walk Against Slavery

On Wednesday 29th of November, A group of us did a walk against slavery.  We were wearing mostly black and holding signs from Hornby High School to Westfield Mall in Riccarton and back. It took us three and a half hours! THREE!! At the end, we had sore feet and were hot even though it was an overcast. During the walk, we got a lot of honks from passing cars and thumbs up even some encouraging words from passing pedestrians. We were even able to walk through the malls with all the stares and somehow it took us a week to make 4 posters... Whoops. And only ONE looked good! There was only one mishap were a man passing in a car and pulled a finger at us... But other than that everything was good! We had a great day and returned to school with no regards but with Pride.

Hokay is our group name, in my group is Kashaye Une and Michelle Arama. We have chosen
Gender Inequality as our topic because it is something that I think that affects too many people in our community and we as a group want to find something to make it stop, We also needed to find some websites that gave us information on what is what and what we can do to help, one of the websites I found  was 'Foggy bottom'. her are some links that takes you to the websites.

We had to answer some questions about our topic;

Who is affected; Everyone Globally is affected by Gender Inequality.

What are the issues; Men get more of everything than woman but men are also affected by gender inequality sometimes.

When did this start; When Europeans started enslaving women.

Where is this happening; it happens more in poor countries. Families selling of their children or eldest child to get more money.

Why is this happening; This is happening because it's been put in our heads that men are better because they're stronger and are ment to be domination. 

Then we had to make an action plan to help our situation;

since it's hard for us to actually help woman affected by this we are planning on making posters and pamphlets about gender inequality and posting them around school plus putting them up around our community.

Hi, my name is  Christian and this is my little story of the Three Little Pigs and me of course what people call me the Big bad wolf.

It all started when I was wondering around sadly alone thinking who should I hang out with, a duck that looks delicious or something else, why should I care I'm gonna eat them all anyway.

Suddenly I felt this type of feeling that that's so deep inside me I just.. nah I'm just hungry but sad at the same time I wanted a friend a friend that's kind, sweet not that salty oh man I'm just so deadly hungry. After I ate that duck that I was hanging out with. I just realized I'm really bad at making friends. So I went walking, walking, walking trying to find a friend, suddenly I saw a house that's made out of straws.

So I thought to myself "who would stupidly build a house out of straws" So I kindly said hello but there was no one there I said hello again no one was answering,   I quietly  went in I was looking around but I saw  a bright pink tale under a chair and I realized it was a pig, I heard him say " hey what are you doing here can't you see im eating here" before I said something, I felt a little bit of a sneeze coming so I huff and I snuff and hache ewww..  I sneezed and guess what the whole house completely fell, besides I already knew it was gonna fall it's made out of straws.

So I ran as fast as I can pass this ugly looking house and wait, I took 13 steps back  and I looked at this other house, but this time it was made out of brown pointy sticks so I thought of myself again and I said: "what in the world am I living in!" I mean seriously who are these creatures. I gently... I mean real gently Knocked on the door "ouch I just pricked myself! Far Out who's ever in there.

I opened the door and said hello I listened carefully, no one answered I said hello again no one answered man this is weird I went inside and looked around and guess What, I saw another pig. I said hello but he didn't answer, I mean is he deaf or something come on pig say something here, so I said for myself loudly " yep he’s deaf.

When I was about to leave I felt another sneeze coming up so I huffed and I puffed and I hache ewwww. Guess what this house didn't fall down, it blew down haha you get it cause I hachee www ha so I ran and ran and ran and I

bumped into this other house and I said "finally a smart and normal looking house made out of red bricks. I knocked normally and said "hello who's there" someone replied angrily "hey go away before I smash you in the face you hear me." Oh man jeez calm down little piggy gosh but the pig came right at my face and bam.. I sneezed again right in his face aha shame pig.

After that the house didn't fall but, I did I fell right into jail! What why, oh and I just realised haha, I'm allergic to pigs, No wonder why I always sneeze haha.

And that my friend is my believable true story of the three little pigs.

   The Balance: We got some flat steel and saw off  80mm from it then clean up the saw marking.
   Next, you then rub on some engineers blue on one side then you make/cut whatever shape you want from the balance but most of the weight has to be at the bottom because then it won't work the way you wanted too.

   The Balance: Draw your shape on a piece of paper that can fit your steel then cut it out and Glue it on your Metal. Then use a Hacksaw/Ban saw to cut out your shape.
   File of the edges to get rid of the things you don't want e.g. saw Marking.
   Now at the top of your Balance where it will be hanging from saw or file a tiny bit of metal out about 5 mm.

   Balance: Now cut about 50 mm off of a steel rod and the file sides. Then rub the steel rod into the hole in the balance then clean it up.

   The Base: Saw off 100 mm off a steel rod then clean it up with a file or a sandpaper. Then rub on some engineers blue on one side of it.
   Mark off a straight line in the middle of the base then on both sides mark 20 mm and 10 mm.
   Next centre punch the marking you're made on your steel rod then drill them using sake glasses.

   The Base: Now saw off 280 mm steel rods and do a quick clean up on your rods with sandpaper and file. Next, you Scrub off the engineers blue on your Base using a Sandpaper and File. Now you weld the rod into the interior holes. Now you clean up the holes where you welded.
